The ignocracy, as part of its proposals to "improve" child protection is abolishing the child protection register. Why? As this step seems stark mad, the explanation probably arises in the New Left's insistance on "proportionality". If more children from its client group were on the register, this would discriminate against the client group. So, getting rid of the register is another step on the road to Mr Milliband's lodestar of equal opportunity. If there is any other explanation, I'd like to see it. The register provided a clear way for concerns to be noted and systematically followed up. The Guardian agrees.
An interesting note from yesterday's commons speech by Annette Brooke is that most of our renamed "Directors of Children's Services" have come "through the education route" and don't know about social work. The National College of School Leadership is putting on a course for them, and she hopes they're going to take it. How reassuring. These people are mostly overblown and overpaid ignocrats who don't know about education either. Perhaps they could be sent on a course for that too.
