It is now established that people assessed as dyslexic can have reduced levels of activity in some areas of the brain, and that intensive teaching can establish normal patterns of activity. The recent experiments involving mild electrical stimulus - which should not be equated with Cuckoo's Nest electric shock treatment - are, therefore, consistent with what we know about the problem, and in fact are part of a wider series of experiments that can be easily located with a google search, eg of dyslexia electrical stimulus. They are well worth reading.
